Projects from my 9th Grade School year

Symbolic Map

Picture
About the project:
The symbolism map, is a project that took us months to do it. First we made some exercises to try to make our final product the best possible. First we made some symbols that identify us to try to come up with ideas. Then, we practice using water paintings and water color to have better techniques that were very useful on our final project. After doing some exercises improving our techniques, we made on our sketch book a draft. That helped us to guide us. Then, we started drawing and then painting. I tried to make as much details as I can to make it more symbolic, even though it took me more time then what I thought. Finally we had to make the key representing all our drawings.

Meanings:
While I was coming up with ideas to my map, I wanted to include as much as details about myself as I can to make it more symbolic. The idea of the shape of the island came up to me very quickly because I thought that the letter N was a perfect shape for an island. The key represents many things. First, those are my favorite colors. Also, in the end of the lines that are pointing the direction, there are small snow flakes which represent that I love snow. The little island on the left with three letter which are BFF represent something witch is essential on my life, witch is friendship. On the top part, are my favorite places to visit. There is the Disney land castle, the Niagara falls, New York city and the Caribbean beaches.
Reflexion:
After  I finished the project, I realize how much effort I putted in. It took me so many hours until I finally think it was perfectly finished. During the process I also faced many obstacles. For example, I haded to repeat the sea because to obtain the perfect color I haded to paint it thousands of times and when I got what I wanted, the paper was so wet that it almost broke, so I repeat it. Another problem that I faced, was adding the key. When I finish I realized that my map didn't had a key and that I didn't had space for my key, so I came up with the idea to add a piece of paper. I love about this project also that it is a autobiography map which made me remind about the things I like, love, like to do,  what are the really important things in my life. After all, I really enjoy making the map and I am proud of my final product. I'm really happy that I could add all the most important details about me.

Abstract Sketch

Picture
About the sketch:
One day while I was doing my sketches for art, I run off of ideas to draw. Then, I started thinking about the things I haven't draw. There, I came up with the idea of drawing something abstract. First I just started drawing lines in disorder. When I finish drawing them, I came up with the idea to use another material (pen) to fill the inside of some shapes that were formed. Doing this I came up with my sketch made with a marker and a pen.

Reflexion:
When I finish doing my sketch, I realize how many good drawing and paintings there are and are abstract. It also made me think about important painters such as Miró who only paints abstracts things. Many don't really consider abstract things truly art, but I think that it's a wonderful way to express feelings for example. There are many paintings that are abstract and people interpretable in different ways and make us see how many different responses an abstract painting can create. This project made me thing when I was 6th grade and we made an abstract paiting with running painting, it was very fun.

Clay Head

Picture
Description:
One of our most recent projects is the clay head. A project which consisted on creating a clay head with the exact proportions. To create this clay head, first on our notebook we created a face to make the exact proportions to make it look as real as possible. Making sure the eyes and other parts were in their exact position. Later we started molding out clay heads giving them detailed and trying to make them as real as possible. Finally I decided to make it a hat to make it look nicer. The last, I painted it with watercolors.

Reflexion:
Doing the clay head was difficult, more then what I thought. I love using clay but this time thing got more complicated. The most difficult part I think it was molding each part of the face such as the eyes because you need to make the holes for the eyes, then the pupil, etc. The part that I enjoy the most was making the hat. That was a last minute idea but I think that after I paint it it finished up looking great. I really like about this project is that we learn how draw faces that look more likely to reality this will help us all lot not only in art class.
